Description
Download & Print this Maths Kit containing 6 workbooks (Australian Cents, Australian Dollars) complete with Boardmaker™ PCS that teaches kids how to count money using the rhythm of number patterns. These Kits use NSW Foundation Font.
Level One workbooks are designed for kids with no pencil skills and poor fine motor coordination. You can laminate the pages and use Velcro tabs or use them as cut and paste worksheets. Binding them into a workbook can help kids learn to be independent and concentrate for longer periods of time.
Level Two workbooks are primarily designed for kids with limited pencil skills who can trace, use a dot marker or colour the answer. Kids start learning the number patterns by tracing through simple dot-to-dots. This then progresses to colouring or using the dot marker to count out the number pattern on coins.
Level Three workbooks are primarily designed for kids who can write but have difficulty working out what to do by themselves. Kids trace to learn the number patterns before completing money worksheets where they need to write the answer. Backward chaining techniques are used where kids are guided to find the work out the correct answer. Designed for kids who tend get mixed up with the timing of counting and writing at the same time. Promotes confidence and allows your child to access part of the school Maths curriculum that they previously wouldn’t have been able to.
Kids start by learning the number patterns using simple matching skills, which then progresses to adding coins to the matching pattern using visual cues. E.g. 10¢ 20¢ 30¢ 40¢. This promotes confidence and reinforces the number pattern, as well as getting kids used to counting out the pattern whilst handling money. The visual cues are then reduced to allow kids to practice what they have learnt.
The cues throughout both Money Patterns Workbook helps guide the kids through the planning and sequencing involved in each worksheet. It builds upon previously learnt skills, which reinforces self-confidence.
